What’s the best way to build a website for my business?

For simplicity’s sake, we’ll put it into an overly simplified list

I want a website for my business “do this”

  1. Get your logos, content, and pictures in order, so you have something to put on a website, brand guide, etc.
  2. Find the domain you want to purchase. “preferably an old one, if you can find one that works for your business”
  3. Find the hosting you want for the needs of your website. You will need more or less depending on your visitor traffic and storage needs
  4. Connect your domain to your hosting account
  5. Decide on a platform like WordPress, Dupler, Concrete5
  6. Build out your site Aesthetically
  7. Optimize for search engines title tags, image optimization, meta Description, sitemap, speed, URL structure, etc; and finally
  8. Launch your site

Which website is best for business?

This is a very loaded question and I feel most people don’t understand the depth of what is needed to succeed on the internet. A lot of the small business owners look at cheap to build websites. I won’t even mention them, they’re ok if that’s what you think your business needs. It’s the difference between a $2 business card and a $10 business card. Other big issues we see are the lack of the ability to adjust your backend, swap hosts or change the PHP version and so on.

In terms of search engines and driving traffic to your business’s website you will need the tools and ability to add tools and remove tools when necessary to grow with your business. Ruling out the majority of those low-cost website builders. For instance, if you currently use your website like a card then some of those smaller or cheaper companies might work for you in terms of just having a digital card on the internet.

However, if you want your website to be a resource for potential customers and customers you will need your website to deliver value and information.

Integration with 3rd parties are huge advantages allowing for:
email subscription;
Image compression;
Search engine optimization;
Push notifications;
Live chat, etc
